The film

An adrenaline junkie decides to commit theft, only to meet karma.

Theft is slightly taboo but easy to commit, which made it a good way to show adrenaline pushing people past their morals. Adrenaline brings euphoria and makes time stretch, shown through snapshot scenes and jump cuts.

The emotion

The emotion we wanted to convey was adrenaline:

  • It brings excitement.
  • We all seek it, consciously or not.
  • It frees us, and distracts us from negativity.
  • It shows best through action.

The adrenaline-induced euphoria often makes individuals neglect common sense and the morality of their actions. Hence theft.

Time dilation

Time dilation: in the theory of special relativity, the “slowing down” of a clock as determined by an observer who is in relative motion with respect to that clock.

Karma

Karma is built into many belief systems, so it became the balance to the theft: equivalence. Newton’s third law, yin and yang, doing unto others: every culture has some idea of balance.
